High Quality Fabrication

Hallsten Corporation has been building gangways for the marine environment since the 1970’s and we have developed patents based on our techniques for doing so. Specific care is taken to design structures for efficiency and resilience so that our structures stand the test of time in the marine environment. Shop drawings are generally provided for approval before fabrication is begun.

 

Design Considerations:

  • Width and length.
  • Structural capacity and expected live loads of 40, 50 or 100 psf, and concentrated loads specific to your use.
  • Beam style or Truss.
  • Deflection limit or stiffness in resisting load.
  • Hinge type: Is a hanging or swivel hinge required to accommodate movement at the dock end from wind and waves?
  • Is ADA compliance a priority? Grab rails and kick plates can be included as well as the proper transitions ramps at each end.
  • Hallsten non-skid aluminum knurled and interlocking decking or grating to provide light transmittance.
  • Guard rail configurations are available to meet any local or national building standards.
  • Utility connections under the gangway can be made at each under deck cross-members.
  • Lighting can be incorporated into the railings, kick-plates or overhead bracing when applicable.
  • Special finishes, such as sand blasting, anodizing, or powder coating.
  • Security gates can be added to the shore abutment and or pier, or placed mid-span.

Maintenance Free

The marine alloy aluminum used in Lite-Span Gangways resists corrosion. Will not rot, split, or rust. Needs no painting or other protective coatings.

Lite-Span Gangways are fabricated of high strength, marine aluminum alloy. All assembly is by Gas Metal Arc Welding using the latest techniques in welding technology.
